An Introduction to Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Our BJJ classes are a great place for women to learn about self-defense, and become stronger, more mindful, and dedicated athletes and individuals. Our instructors have created an inclusive, safe and fun environment for students to learn the skills needed to keep them safe, happy and healthy.
The martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is rooted in strength and mindfulness. An opponent who is very small can defeat an opponent that is much larger than them if they possess great strength, willpower, the proper mindset and techniques.
Our instructors are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Masters who are dedicated to helping women realize their full potential, and building inward and outward strength to help keep students safe, strong, and healthy.
Techniques that are learned in this class are made stronger due to a strong fitness component to our womem’s self-defense class that is incomparable to fitness classes that are offered in regular gyms.
Self-Defense and Confidence
The Gracie Barra Women’s Program in Carrollton, TX has produced countless strong, self-sufficient and successful female BJJ fighters. Our class includes attack and escape simulations that put students’ skills to the test, and allow them to see where their strengths and weaknesses lay in their self-defense abilities.
In additon to attack and release simulations and drills, students will participate in self-defense clases designed with women in mind such as Rape Prevention, Jiu-Jitsu Conditioning and social get-togethers to promote team bonding in the class.
Our instructors empower students, and push them to realize their strength inside and outside. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is rooted in values such as respect, integrity, teamwork and mindfulness, and can be used on the mats and off in day-to-day life.
Gracie Barra Carrollton has small class sizes that allow our instructors to create a focused, inclusive, and fun environment. Our students are encouraged to support one another during their lessons, cheer them on, and be social and friendly with one another to maintain the fun, supportive and positive philosophy of Gracie Barra.

Positive and Friendly
Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are friendly and inclusive, and available to anyone, regardless of gender, age or skill level. The martial arts can be intimidating to women, but our classes are positive and supportive. Our instructors ask that students arrive 15 minutes prior to class in order to prepare and get in the right mindset to practice the self-defense skills of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Class will start right at the scheduled time, and your instructors will be waiting for you on the mats, some in pink-lined Gracie Barra uniforms. New students will be taught the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and once they are confident in their skills, they will learn more advanced BJJ techniques and methods, and will be tested in attack and escape scenarios and drills.
